Run by social enterprise GP Beacon CARE, Homeless Friendly aims to change cultural attitudes towards those without a permanent address and enable them to access decent healthcare and be treated with the same respect afforded to everyone else in our society.

In front of a packed house at the Lime Square Medical Centre in Gorton, East Manchester the vital programme was launched to enrich the lives of the most disadvantaged in our society.

With the superb support of the surgery and Beacon staff, the event gave a platform to Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, Oldham West and Royton MP Jim McMahon and emergency healthcare service BARDOC – who were amongst the first organisations in the country to pledge to become “homeless friendly”.

Guests included the Salvation Army, The Oldham Street Angels, MPs, GPs, councillors and healthcare professionals.
